THE SONGS THAT SAVED YOUR LIFE

BURNING BOOKS
October 2005

the truth that you all once respected
is gone and we will resurrect it
why flirt with your fame and fashion
you lack conviction and lack the passion

wheres the sense in all the kicks you took
seems like you'll never stop burning BOOKS
burning books burning books
THIS AIN'T ABOUT ELOQUENCE
burning books burning books
IT'S ABOUT PROGRESS

forsake yourselves from the moral choice
claim you have no sense nor voice
if there's nothin here there's nothing worse
there's nothing worse than your blank verse

so wheres the sense in all the kicks you took
seems like you'll never stop burning BOOKS
burning book burning books
THIS AIN'T ABOUT ELOQUENCE
burning books burning books
IT'S ABOUT PROGRESS

none shall escape the judgement in this time
these words i say to all mankind
none shall escape the judgement in this time
these words i say to all mankind

wheres the sense in all the kicks you took
seems like you'll never stop burning BOOKS
burning book burning books
THIS AIN'T ABOUT ELOQUENCE
burning books burning books
IT'S ABOUT PROGRESS

We Have No Past
February 2005

lives lead so long ago have no future nor no past
a legacy of lies for a dream that could never last

and the history of modern times
is the history of all human crimes
that you're stuck inside

we have no past
just an endless future
and we're there

and there's a shadow cast across our past when all you do is run
from the founding hate and moral rape that could never be undone

and the history of modern times
is the history of all human crimes
and you're stuck inside

we have no past
just an endless future
we're there
AND YOU ARE STUCK INSIDE

No Jail For Thought
May 2004

opened for free
change my desires
but my ideals are still inside
you can take away my rights
remove the strength i have to fight
but there's a part of me that will forever scream

no jail for thought

Still I Rise
May 2004

you've been free for so many centuries
but your dreams are the price of victory
what's gone wrong when the only thing that now reigns supreme is apathy?

still I rise

there's nothing to do and nothing to say
a portrait of urban and social decay
so lose the dreams and you will lose your chains
shackled by the system you choose to obey

Last Act
November 2003

"people pass, oblivious, no one pays attention, they don't even pretend to not pay attention"...

"my life has taken another turn again. the days move along with regularity, one day indistinguishable from the next, a long continuous chain, then suddenly - there is a change."

However far you reach out you are trapped by the flames
Held tight by tradition in a dead mans cage
Never breaking down your chains
Held by the only things you know never change
Tried at ransom by the trappings of your wealth

It's a slow suicide

Close your eyes from what you see inside
Bitter remains of a past they deny
You used to think you could change the world
Now you can only change yourself

And bring meaning to the last days of your life

Every day's the same...

This Is Not An Exit
September 2003

lead the blind with the promise of light

and lead the people away from the sight

of young people growing old

their minds long gone their memories sold

this is not an exit

from mind and morality

this is not an exit

but I’m still a human being

things fall apart and I’m crushed under the weight

there’s nothing here but the prejudice you make

of young people growing old

their minds long gone their memories sold

Choke
August 2003

we sold our future for freedom of speech
but we choke when we want to speak
we've never known anything else
so change the past to suit yourself

they've put a price on your peace of mind
an eye for an eye will make the world go blind
sell the future, pacify your hate
condemn yourselves with a fake handshake

we're not dead yet

Tell Me What You Want (But Don't Tell Me The Truth)
June 2003.

people power died out long ago
we're left with empty faces and media control
everybody must stand up for something in their life
but other peoples orders are no reason to fight

tell me what you want but don't tell me the truth
tell me what you want but don't tell me the truth

an entire generation so innocent and raw
thinking "everything's so easy when there's nothing to fight for"
unmasking a confidence trickster prying on your truth
we all exist. we all know best. celebrate our difference.

tell me what you want but don't tell me the truth
tell me what you want but don't tell me the truth

Crash And Burn
June 2003

Don’t think you are special
You just don’t know who to believe
Millions of people
Just worthless history

so we'll crash
and we'll burn
and then we'll feel alive
we'll look up
through the flames
but never wonder why
and we'll crash
and we'll burn
and then we'll feel alive
we'll look up
to the stars
to the emptiness inside
