A Failure
I look into the mirror
but all I see is your face
a memory, a reminder
of a truth I cannot face
Two very different people
Yet we both look the same
Just looking at myself
I'm overcome by shame
I'm a failure in your
eyes
always have been & always will be
At least that's what I can tell
from the way you look at me
If you could just stop
shouting
and listen to me for God's sake
you'll learn that I am human
that I too make mistakes
You never did take the
time
to get to know what I'm about
or to help me out with my problems
No. All you do is shout.
To you, I'm a
disappointment
a bad influence in the crowd
I no longer know if
I had ever made you proud
I can't be the perfect
daughter
that you want me to be
I can't be someone else
I've just got to be me
I'm sorry if I hurt you
I'm sorry if I lied
but I've learned I just cant please you
I can't be your golden child.
