The Rottweiler is beleave to have decended from the most ancient of breeds. His origan is from the Roman times, in witch he preformed duties of guard and drover dog. When the Roman legans transferd into the Alps the dogs acompanied them protecting the soldures and driving the herds. Settleing in the area of Rottweil, the Roman Army dogs came into contact with dogs native to the area. The natural resalt was an interbreeding of the two breeds.
The princeble duties of these interbreds remand the guarding and driving of large herds, the defence of there masters and there masters property. Sence there was a large concintration of the dogs in the vicinty of the old German empire city of Rottweil, the dog aquierd the name "Rottweiler" or "Bucher dog". |
