My mIRC Page
If you want Visit The Official mIRC Home page
***5 minutes to waving with mIRC 4.1 to 5.0***
If you have mIRC 5.0 or greater go here.
Simpler if you download and print it out. Or you can follow the instructions below.
A) Click on FILE, OPTIONSSOUND REQUESTS 1. place check mark in all boxes
2. put the FULL PATH to the directory where your .wav files
are kept. i.e. C:\mirc\sounds\ <-- note the final
backslash is a MUST
B) Click on DCC, OPTIONS
1. check Auto-get, minimize,, auto-close on transfer
completion
2. ASK someone for permission to send them a file
3. click DCC, SEND, set packet size to 4096
(sometimes 3072 is faster, ??? don't ask)
4. place a check mark in all boxes below "packet size"
5. Set timeouts to 999.
6. DCC "gets" directory can be the same directory as A)above
or you may choose another placement as a "holding area".
This doesn't matter.
C) Click on TOOLS, REMOTE, EVENTS
1. Place a check mark in "listening"
2. Type or cut and paste the following line into the Remote,
Events area:
1:ON TEXT:!yournick*:*:/dcc send $nick C:\wavdirectory\ $+ $parm2
3. Replace "yournick" with your nickname (or any other single
word you want your system to respond to) the "!" and "*"
are there for a reason, put them in.
4. Replace "wavdirectory" with the same as in A) above,
including the final "\"
5. Problems in this area are usually caused by improper
spacing, watch it!
6. Click "save to" and accept the default placement
D) Click FILE, SETUP, LOCAL INFO
1. Make sure your IP address is correct to allow the
sending of files. Most users have a dynamic IP address,
i.e. one that is assigned each logon, therefore check
boxes labeled "on connect always get local host and IP
address"
E) Click TOOLS, ALIAS.
1. Cut and paste or type the following below anything else
that might already be in your alias window (spacing must
be exact):
/s /sound $1.wav < $1.wav >
2. Click OK.
F) While on the channel:
1. To play a sound (you must have it to play it), type the
following on the command line w/o quotes "/s filename".
Replace "filename" with the name of the wav you want to
play.
Example: to play a wav called cool.wav, you would type:
/s cool
Then it would play the wav.
2. To get a sound when you see the message "sound doesn't
exist" type
!nickname filename.wav
Replace nickname with the nick of the person who played
the sound and filename with the name of the sound.
If the other person has their mIRC setup right you will
automatically be sent that file!
When you want to have fun with your Popups in mIRC then add a wav
to your Popup. For Example:
Grin!:/me raises his hand so sparks of electricity fly off, looks at $$1
and says, "I Don't Think So!" | /sound thinkso.wav
(As you might could tell this is from my husband, ^Rayden's popups)
notice how he has "|" after his popup, thats very important. Especially with the spaces.
THAT'S IT! NOW GO PLAY SOME WAVS!
Here are some of my favorite wavs
