Perpetua sighs and leans her head to the side
In perpetuum
Smoke traveling from her open mouth
Twisting and spiraling to the sky
I remember how she would make wishes
On falling meteors
In perpetuum
Do you ever wish for anything, she said
I told her how I never do
How I don't believe in anything
But her wishes were never for herself
She was always a much better person than me
We were leaned against a car in her drive way
Where I had asked her to be mine
An eternity ago
In perpetuum
I wondered where the time might have gone
I wondered how a kiss might make her smile or cringe
But I know she was searching for things to say
Somthing beautiful
Somthing coarse
Anything to keep us alive
In perpetuum
I watched as the smoke twisted off her lips
And into oblivion
I think we've been trying to forget each other
But I know I never will
You will never have to remember again
Lacrimus oculos suffusa nitentis
In perpetuum
My Perpetua
