Dragoon is the English name for a series called Ryuuki Denshou. It was based on a PC game (or perhaps the other way around?) of the same name, and most of the voice acting cast for the game was re-used for the anime. A picture of the game art can be found here."Ryuuki Denshou," means--to the best of my translating abilities--"Rising Legend." It seems a pretty fitting name to me, whereas the American name confuses it with the PSX game Legend of Dragoon. No, this Dragoon is definitely not based on the Legend, it's a lesser-known anime released by ADV Films and is fairly hard to find. Information about it on the Net is nonexistant; I have never seen a Dragoon site, pictures, fanfic, or any other form of multimedia. I got this video simply because it featured Seki Toshihiko, and was absolutely floored by his performance. His trend of playing characters with long hair (Duo, Cool Mint, Rain, Mousse, etc, etc...) is becoming a typecasting I really like. ^^;;The story centres around Sadie/Sedon, a young swordsman, and Miu/May, a mysterious girl whom Sedon finds outside in the snow. May has amnesia, and it is revealed that she is in fact an unknowing weapon of the story's villains. Sedon and May leave Sedon's home in order to try and find out who May really is. Sedon's sister Millie--a healer--follows them and they are later joined by the rest of the cast; including Rain, a wayward prince, Lillith, a gambling redhead who cheats Rain out of his savings, and Bubb, Lillith's traveling companion.
If you can handle the fact that May's clothes get torn off every few seconds, (It's not that bad, this isn't supposed to be hentai) you will definitely enjoy this series. So far ADV has released one video, and repeated letters to ADV have revealed that the series ends here. If there's an ending, I don't know about it--but I'm sure the Ryuuki Denshou PC game does. If you can find it, then hopefully you can answer all our questions. ~Rain
