Tuxedo Mask

Mamoru/Darien/Endymion has many different forms. He is Prince Endymion, the protector and prince of the planet Earth. He is also Tuxedo Mask, the protector of Sailor Moon. Several times, he was Moonlight Knight and served the same purpose as Tuxedo Mask while simply looking different. In the future, he is Neo King Endymion, king and protector of Crystal Tokyo, a beautiful kingdom of peace similar to the Silver Millennium.

First Form: Prince Endymion Before he was ever reborn on Earth, he was Prince Endymion. He fell in love with the moon princess, Princess Serenity, in this form and he would love her in every form he would ever take. As Prince Endymion he had to protect Earth and its people. In the manga, Prince Endymion lived in the Golden Kingdom with his parents. He had four generals whose names were Jadeite, Kunzite (Malachite), Nephrite, and Zoisite (guy in the manga/girl in the anime).

Prince Endymion had a connection with the planet he ruled as well as Elysion, the "heart" of the Earth. Elysion was a kingdom that flourished at the center of the Earth, within its core. The Priest of Elysion was Helios/Elios/Pegasus. Helios appeared to rule Elysion just as the earls of the Medieval times ruled different parts of kingdoms. Prince Endymion's "kingdom" was the entire Planet Earth and Elysion was a part of his kingdom so from what I know I can safely say that Helios was placed in charge of Elysion.

Just as the earls of long ago had to protect their king, Helios had to protect Prince Endymion. In Sailor Moon Super S, Prince Endymion fell ill because Elysion had been damaged by the Dead Moon. Elysion was the "sacred ground" that existed to protect Earth. With Elysion's strange powers to protect the planet dying, Helios, who also shared a connection with the prince, Elysion, and the planet, also became ill. This is how Helios, Prince Endymion, Earth, and Elysion were connected. If one died, they all did.

Second Form: Mamoru/Darien/Endymion Prince Endymion was reborn on Earth after he was killed by Queen Beryl. We do not know what his first name was since his parents were killed in an automobile accident and he sustained a head injury that affected his memory when he was six years old.

He was raised at an orphanage. The nuns there called him Mamoru Chiba/Darien Shields. He suffered from migraines and dreams about a princess that desperately needed his help. He also had premonitions that he had to find a powerful object called the Silver Imperium Crystal in order to restore his memory. He always felt like he wasn't really Mamoru but someone else and he eventually realized that that someone was Prince Endymion.

At the beginning of the series, he was 17 years old, attended Azabu High School, and was a model. During most of the series though, he was 20 years old and he lived in a small apartment in Juubangai, Japan. He attended college at the Azabu Institute of Technology. In the last season of Sailor Moon, Mamoru went to America to attend Harvard University. He never made it there though because Galaxia took his starseed from him, killing him.

Before he really knew Usagi, Mamoru was very lonely and he kept to himself for the most part. His parents were dead and he didn't appear to have any living relatives. He spent most of his time reading and studying. He had the ability to heal himself and others and this is probably why his dream was to become a doctor. As for his personality, he seemed rather arrogant due to his aloofness and how he bristled easily (example: his first encounters with Usagi). However, he often regretted the mean things he said and he was really very tenderhearted.

Third Form: Tuxedo Mask In the manga, Mamoru was completely aware of his alter ego, Tuxedo Kamen/Mask. In the anime, however, Mamoru suffered from migraines and then blacked out, transforming into Tuxedo Mask. At other times, Mamoru would just be walking down the street and suddenly change into Tuxedo Mask and rush off to help Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask's attire developed as a result of his memory of being Princess Serenity's suitor in his past life.

His attacks consisted of throwing red roses mostly and whacking people with his cane. (lol.) The roses served several purposes. Mostly, they were used as distractions. They were also used to block things. For instance, in Sailor Moon R, a rose was thrown to block the shuttlecock Wicked Lady hit with a badminton racket.

In the manga, he also had another attack called Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber in which he threw spinning tops. Yet another attack he had in the manga was Pink Sugar Tuxedo Attack which he only used once. Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon had a bunch of attacks that they did together but Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Chibi Moon only had that one. Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Chibi Moon both held Chibi Moon's Moon Stick and attacked the snow dancers using Pink Sugar Tuxedo Attack.

In the manga, Tuxedo Mask had a lot more power than he did in the anime. His powers were mostly psychic ones. He had the ability to heal himself and sometimes others with his aura. He could also see really far away while in contact with the source of his power, Earth. He also had the ability to emit energy from his fingertips to sense auras and he could also project that energy. He had precognitive dreams (psychic dreams) and he also had a special bond with Usagi/Serena. Another ability of his was psychometry, the ability to divine information about people or objects by touching them. He also heard voices . . . .

Fourth Form: Moonlight Knight After the defeat of Queen Beryl, the senshi's and Mamoru's memories of their past and of each other were wiped out. When the whole Doom Tree series began, Luna restored the memories to the senshi but forgot to restore Mamoru's or maybe just thought it was not important to! Some part of Mamoru was programmed to protect the moon princess no matter what, evidently, because Moonlight Knight appeared and began protecting the senshi.

Moonlight Knight was entirely separate from Mamoru because at one point Moonlight Knight showed up and Mamoru was within sight of the sailors. They then believed that Moonlight Knight was someone other than Mamoru which caused much confusion. (I bet Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury were thinking that Moonlight Knight was the Tuxedo Mask form of one of their princes that had finally decided to pop up! lol. Poor things.)

They were wrong though. The last time Moonlight Knight appeared, he revealed that he was indeed Mamoru, only he was a separate part of him, the warrior side of him. I suppose that would account for the weird Arab garb but he could have still been the warrior side of Mamoru wearing armor like knights of old. It is a mystery why exactly he was dressed in Arab garb. His attack was to throw roses (*looks surprised*) only they were white roses . . . not red. The Moonlight Knight was reabsorbed into Mamoru's body when Mamoru was badly injured because Mamoru no longer had the strength to sustain the existence of the Moonlight Knight. Tuxedo Mask then started appearing again just as before.

Fifth Form: Neo King Endymion His fifth form is Neo King Endymion. He is the future king of Crystal Tokyo, husband of Neo Queen Serenity, and father of Small Lady, the future princess of Crystal Tokyo. As the king of Crystal Tokyo, he is very concerned for the welfare of his people.

As Neo Queen Serenity's husband, he is her protector just as he has always been and he is extremely devoted to her. When Crystal Tokyo was invaded, Neo King Endymion was badly injured and Neo Queen Serenity went into a deep sleep she could not be awakened from. Neo King Endymion's spirit went seeking help for her more than for himself.

As a father, Neo King Endymion is devoted to his daughter, Small Lady. This is evident when he went seeking help as a ghost and found it in the senshi and his former self, Tuxedo Mask. There was no mistaking the love he had for Small Lady when he told Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon that she was their future daughter. He told them to protect her well and the look in his eyes when he looked at Small Lady clearly showed his fatherly devotion.
