| Helios is the priest of a beautiful land at the center of the Earth called Elysion. This land was once part of Prince Endymion's Golden Kingdom. Prince Endymion never met Helios when his family still ruled the Earth but Helios was very aware of the prince. It was Helios' duty to protect Elysion, the Earth, and Prince Endymion by using prayer and the cleansing power of Elysion itself.
Helios was captured by Queen Neherenia and placed in a cage. She put a spell on him so that he turned into Pegasus but he could still transform into his human form temporarily using what power he still had. The evil queen imprisoned Helios because she wanted possession of the Golden Crystal. In the anime, Helios possesses the Golden Crystal in his horn. In the manga, however, Prince Endymion possesses the Golden Crystal. Helios, in the form of Pegasus, befriended Chibi Usa and hid from Queen Neherenia in her dream mirror. In order for her to obtain the Crystal, she had to combine Helios' body with his spirit so she desperately tried to find out whose dream mirror Helios' spirit was hiding in. Pegasus showed Elysion to Chibi Usa once he trusted her and he showed her what the Dead Moon Circus had done to it and what was happening to the Earth. Chibi Usa was horrified by the destruction she saw and she knew that she had to help Pegasus in any way that she could. Pegasus was pleased that she was so understanding and that she was determined to help him. In the anime, he trusted her completely then so he transformed into Helios and kissed her. In the manga, he didn't transform into his human form in front of her for a while longer. Helios fell in love with Chibi Usa and she fell in love with him. In the manga, Super Sailor Chibi Moon became very upset because Pegasus thought that Sailor Moon was the maiden he'd been looking for, the one that would break the seal of the Golden Crystal. She ran away in tears as it began to rain. The Sailors and Tuxedo Mask, now in their detransformed states, became very distraught because they couldn't find her. Pegasus found her though and transformed into Helios for the first time then telling her, "Little maiden, don't cry." He told her that Sailor Moon was so strong only because of her help and then he kissed her. As for Helios' personality, he's gallant and romantic, reminding Chibi Usa of Prince Charming. He's also rather reclusive due to how he has spent so much time alone in the temple, the only other inhabitants of it being the two shrine maidens. It's rather amazing that Helios trusted Chibi Usa so much but then, he loved her, and part of love is trust. He's also very compassionate and just plain sweet. -Mandy *Sailor June Princess* |
