  1. There is a man who lives on the top floor of a very tall building. Everyday he gets the elevator down to the ground floor to leave the building to go to work. Upon returning from work , he can only travel half way up in the lift and has to walk upthe rest of the way unless it is raining ! why?

Answer :

The man is very short and so can only reach half of the lift buttons ! However if it is raining, then he will have his umbrella with him and so can press the buttons with it.

   2.   A man collects cigarette stubs and makes one full cigarette with every 8 stubs.
         If he gets 64 stubs how many full cigarettes can he smoke. 

         Answer:

         8+1=9

  3.    In 1990, a person is 15 years old. In 1995 that same person is 10 years old. How is        this possible?

        Answer :

4.    It takes exactly one hour for an ununiformed cross sectional rope to burn when ignited at one end. How it can be used to measure the time duration of half hour?

        Answer :

        If ignited at both the ends when rope is in horizontal position it will burn in half hour.

8.    If 5 apples are in a basket, how do you divide them among 5 persons so that each one gets an apple, no apple is cut, and one apple remains in the basket.

        Answer:

        Give last person his apple in the basket

9.    If a man at the north pole walks 10 miles south, then 10 miles east & then 10 miles north, how far would he be from the starting point?

        Answer:

        He would be right back from where he started. Remember that he is at north pole !

10.    What time is it if the clock strikes thirteen?

        Answer:

        Time to repair the clock

11.    A number of persons were engaged to do a piece of work , which would have occupied them 24 hours if they had commenced at the same time; but instead of doing so, they commenced at equal intervals & then continued to work till the whole work was finished, the payment being proportional to the work done by each. The first-comer received 11 times as much as the last; find the time occupied to complete the work?
