Background of the Church
The church started out as a Full-Gospel, Evangelical church since 1988. Up to the year 1995, it was able to set up outreaches and congregations in various provinces in Luzon (the Philippines’ mainland *Note: The Philippines is an archipelagic country).
Eventually, Reformed Baptist and Landmark Baptist doctrines were introduced by way of invitations to conferences. By the year 1997, church membership was dissolved. Even before a Primitive Preacher ever set foot in our fellowship meetings, the group began to prayerfully study and consider the Primitive Baptist teachings, especially as rendered in the 1832 Black Rock Address.
Organization
On December 23, 2001 a Presbytery was gathered at Alabang in Muntinlupa City to officiate and witness the constitution and organization of the first-ever Primitive Baptist Church in that specified area in the Philippines.
The following comprised the Presbytery present that day:
Elder Harvey D. Fulmer, pastor of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Scranton, Arkansas, USA (the sending and authorizing church);
Elder Benjamin “Gus” A. Harter, pastor of Providence Primitive Baptist Church based in Davao City, Philippines;
Elder Dominador Lozada, pastor of the First Primitive Baptist Church of Manila, based in Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines; and
Elder Manuel R. Briva, pastor of the Sta. Rosa Primitive Baptist Church, based in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Philippines.
2005 and Onwards
In April 2005, Elder Ronaldo Lopez and the church chose to steer away, and to declare independence from White Unto Harvest – thereby becoming the first independent Primitive Baptist Church within the Metro Manila area, if not within the whole Philippine archipelago.
Several Elders were ordained since the church’s constitution. First to be ordained were Elder John Resurreccion and Elder Joesito Beciña as co-Elders of the church in Muntinlupa. This was done on June 19, 2005. The Presbytery present who ordained the said ministers were Elder Ronaldo Lopez and Elder Ricky Enoposa of the Caloocan Primitive Baptist Church (in Camarin). Elder Rommel Fababier was ordained on June 18, 2006, also as a co-Elder in the Muntinlupa church. The Presbytery present were Elders Lopez and Resurreccion, with the consent and blessings of Elder Beciña.
To date, the church has helped organize and constitute several churches. First among those is the First Primitive Baptist Church of God located in Antipolo City in the province of Rizal. The church as organized August 28, 2005. The Presbytery present consisted of Elders Lopez and Resurrerccion, and with the consent and blessings of Elder Beciña. Elder John Resurrecction was sent out to pastor this church.
On December 24, 2006 the Cavite Primitive Baptist Church of God was organized and constituted. The Presbytery present were Elders Lopez and Fababier, with the consent and blessings of the other Elders.. Based in the Trece Martires-Gen. Trias area of the Cavite province, this church is to be pastured by request of that congregation, by Elder Rommel Pababier.
Elder Joecito Beciña is currently in Gapan, in the province of Nueva Ecija, currently ministering to the fellowship which meets there. This fellowship is prayerfully considering organization-constitution within 2007.
We constantly give thanks to our Sovereign God, Who sustains both the Elders and the Churches within the fellowship – as we continue to uphold His Word in our lives and fellowships as we subscribe the teachings of the Bible; and as contained in the Black Rock address of 1832 – praying that other Primitive Baptist brethren will join us in sweet fellowship under the same beliefs, teachings.and practices
