Common name: Yellow-bellied Spider Monkey Measurements: Head-body length=416-582, Tail length=680-899, Hindfoot length=176-217, Ear length=31-46, Weight=5.9-10.4 Kg Description: Upper parts, head and legs black. Face black and almost naked, sometimes with a triangular patch white or yellow. Underparts contrasting yellow. Tail prehensile and black. Natural History: They live in tropical forests to 1300 meters. Diurnal and arboreal. Live in groups up to 20 members. Feeds on ripe fruits and sometimes leaves or wood. Distribution: In Colombia they live in the Amazon and the eastern part of the country, between the Caqueta and Guaviare rivers. Status: Vulnerable (IUCN 2003), Vulnerable (Rodríguez 1998). Common name: Owl Monkey Measurements: HB=240-475, T=220-418, HF=89-96, E=27-35, Weight=780-1249 g. Description: Upper parts gray or brown. Head round, with hair and three stripes and white spots above the eyes. Large brown eyes. No prehensil tail brown. Natural History: They live in tropical and dry forests up to 3200 meters. Nocturnal, arboreal. Live in groups from 2 to 5 individuals. Feeds on fruits, insects and nectar. Distribution: In Colombia they live in all the country. Status: Vulnerable (IUCN 2003), No evaluated (Rodríguez 1998). CITES Apéndice II |
