Checking Out Books
Students will be allowed to “borrow” 2 books at each library class. Those books then become the responsibility of the student. The borrowed books are then due back on their next library day. If the student hasn’t finished reading their book, they are allowed to renew that book for another library cycle - for a maximum of 2 additional cycles. If the book(s) are lost or damaged, it is expected that they be replaced or paid for. (See Lost/Damaged Books)
When a student returns their library book, on time, they will receive a paper “clock”. The student can collect those clocks over the course of the school year. The student with the most clocks at the end of the year, will be allowed to choose a small prize, purchased by the librarian, as a reward for remembering to return their library books on time.
Lost/Damaged Books
When a book is unfortunately lost or damaged, it is expected that it be exactly replaced or paid for. Our ultimate goal is to get the book(s) back into the collection, so if a book is lost, please take the time to thoroughly search for the book(s) before payment. Sometimes ordering a book from an online bookstore like Amazon.com can be less expensive then going to a bookstore. If a book is damaged, payment is due to replace the book(s) for other students to enjoy. If payment is made for a lost book, and then the original book is found, reimbursement of payment can be obtained through the District Office, upon return of the original book. (See Contact Us). The price of the book(s) can be obtained at the library, so please call if you have any questions. (See Contact Us)
