| From the beginning of time, people of all cultures have danced for enjoyment, for entertainment, and for the expression of universal human emotions such as love and loss, hope and sorrow, celebration and defeat. One of the most classic forms of dance is ballet, which comes from the Italian word ballare, meaning to dance. Ballet first developed out of 15th century court dancing in Italy, and became increasingly stylized and demanding over time. Yet it was not until 1661, when King Louis XIV started the Royal Academy of Dance in France, that ballet began to develop into the intricate and highly choreographed art form we know today. With engaging music, sensational costumes and brilliantly tuned bodies, ballet is one of the worlds most rarified, yet most accessible, art forms. It is also a complex orchestration of many arts woven to create a synergistic world of music, movement and imagery. The result is a spectacular stage presentation that magically captivates the audience through astounding physical feats accomplished with seemingly effortless grace and agility. Audiences cant help but join the energy and feeling of a ballet performance. ~*If you can get a more detailed yet not to long history that you think would be good please email it to me. I already have another one but I wish to combine it with some other ones (thanks Kat for the one you sent me)*~ |
