EarthDreaming
Coven is an egalitarian coven for the creation of a new tradition of Pagan
worship focussing upon personal transformation through communion with Goddess,
deepening our connection to the Land, and celebrating its cycles.
Welcome
Welcome to EarthDreaming. We'd like to share with you a little about ourselves. For ten months of each year our coven is a closed group, evolving our way through an annual cycle of transformation that begins immediately prior to the Summer Solstice (Dec 22nd) each year. We meet weekly on Wednesday nights in Yokine, as well as celebrating full moons, solstices and equinoxes, and a cycle of six local seasons - a fairly full schedule.
From the start of October to the end of November is our open period - during which time we welcome visitors to any of our regular Wednesday night meetings. Whether you are looking to join a coven, or just curious to learn more about our particular tradition, we would love you to join us for any or all of these open meetings.
Open meetings for 1999 will take place on the following Wednesday nights from 8pm (prompt) til 10pm at Wordsworth Avenue, Yokine:-
6th, 13th, 20th & 27th Oct, 3rd, 10th and 17th Nov
NB. No meeting 24th Nov
Please phone to confirm, so that we know who we're expecting. Please be aware that if you are thinking you may want to join you will need to attend at least three open meetings.
Open meetings include a chance to chat informally as well as the opportunity to participate in the casting of a ritual circle and an experiential process related to some aspect of the EarthDreaming tradition. We are always open to explore any questions you may have in relation to the coven or the tradition. We recognise that it can be somewhat intimidating to come into a group who are strongly bonded, and we will be doing our best to make you feel at home. Don't hestitate to ring up for a chat between meetings if you feel you'd like to.
The EarthDreaming Tradition of pagan worship is a newly emerging tradition, which is exploring ways to practice our Western spirituality within this land and time. Significant sources of inspiration are the witchcraft described by Starhawk and the Earth-centred spirituality described by Matthew Fox.
Our roots are in the Wiccan tradition, however we are also engaged with attuning ourselves to the voices of the local landscape, as personified by the Ancestor Beings: Snake, Frog and Magpie and an evolving cosmology which is uniquely EarthDreaming.
The EarthDreaming Tradition recognises and values its children as an essential part of the Tradition.
Ground Rules - Guiding Principles
Equality: The power to make decisions is shared by all members of the coven, as is the the responsibility for preserving and evolving our tradition. Those who have more experience with the tradition have a responsibility to pass their skills and wisdom on.
Safety: As a group, we are committed to designing our rituals and processes with concern for the physical, emotional & spiritual safety of all involved.
Conflict: We are committed to dealing creatively with any conflict that may arise.
Visibility: We respect the desire of any individual member not to be publicly identified as a member of the coven.
Attendence: As an intimate bonded group, prolonged absenses of one or more members have a significant impact. For the sake of group energy and process, we ask that coveners commit to our regular Wednesday meeting, as well as a certain number of meetings in the year designated as 'mandatory', ie. the four solar festivals, the coven closing ritual and scheduled planning meetings.
Planning: Planning of meeting topics and facilitation is done quarterly, at the meeting following the solar festival.
Weekend Away: Once a year (during July or August) the coven goes away for the weekend together for our annual "re-visioning" process.
Families: Children (and partners) of coven members are especially
welcome to join the monthly family circle associated with the coven.
Full Moons & Festivals:
Full Moons: The coven meets for worship each month at the time of the full moon. At this time we attune to the Goddess mystery tradition (and often also the Horned God) of our European spiritual heritage. Full Moons are only open to full members of the coven.
Solar Festivals: The coven meets to celebrate the four solstices and equinoxes. These are the initiatory points on an annual cycle of personal transformation which works with the 4 paths of creation spirituality.
Autumn Equinox: Via Negativa, letting go and letting be - descending into our Dark
Winter Solstice: Via Creativa, breakthrough and co-creation with Divinity
Spring Equinox: Via Transformativa, compassion for all beings
and action in the world
