Pride and Prejudice
The Thoughts and Words of Brian Pride

Mary had a flair for guns
And kept them in her storage bins
She counted off the rounds by ten
And dumped the ammunition in

Karen was a wasp monger
She lived a sheltered life
She slept inside the laundry basket
Holding a kitchen knife

Mary thought it nothing strange
That Karen were a tad deranged
They shared their lives as lovers do
One by one, and two by two

Karen cooked and Mary cleaned
And shared their separate lives
Mary had her armory
And Karen had her knives

One day Karen hadn’t flour
To bake the morning bread
She set the gas to bake one hour
Using Mary’s tin’s instead

Karen yawned and took a nap
Inside the laundry pile

Mary felt the laundry load as she dumped the basket in
She didn’t notice Karen’s cries as the cycle turned to spin

Mary merely took her mop
To the kitchen down the hall
When Karen’s bread knocked them dead
The end of Mary, Karen and all
