MURDERED BY HIS DEBTOR
Lebanon, Ky., April 30.
Samuel Hayes, twenty-one years of age, was shot and killed last evening, at Riley, a small town nine miles east of here, by his brother-in-law, Thomas Hourigan, a practicing physician of that place.  The tragedy resulted from a quarrel over a small debt which Hourigan owed.  The murderer came to Lebanon and gave himself up.  Hayes belongs to one of he wealthiest families of this county.

A CLOSE CALL FROM A MOB
Louisville, June 28
A determined effort to lynch Dr. Thomas Hourigan, who shot Samuel Hay , was made by a mob at Lebanon, Ky., Tuesday night.  The cell doors were battered down, but the prisioner's life was saved at the last moment by a volley from the sherriff's revolver, which scattered the crowd until law-abiding citizens came to the rescue.  It was a narrow escape, and Hourigan was badly frightened..
