Any sign of relief from the dengue outbreak in the city is yet to be visible. The death toll from haemorrhagic dengue fever rose to 13 till September 13. According to sources in the control room at the Department of Health Services, 773 dengue patients have so far been hospitalised in the city. Thirty-four patients were admitted to different hospitals and clinics on September 13. The Dhaka City Corporation has strengthened its mosquito control drive in view of the dengue outbreak. But it will be difficult to check the breeding of the Aedes mosquito, the carrier of dengue germs, until the rain stops.
