Ten die, 50 suffer from mysterious disease

Fifty persons are now struggling for their lives in Meherpur after being attacked by an unknown disease that has so far claimed at least ten people, including three women, in the last 11 days, official sources said yesterday.

According to Civil Surgeon Dr Abdul Malek, most of the affected people are residents of Chandpur village under Perozpur Union Parishad of Meherpur sadar upazila.

The mysterious disease has killed three sons, a daughter and a son-in-law of one Mofizuddin of Chandpur.

The victims are Rahman, 35, Asifa Khatun, 49, Akram, 55, Moshtaq, 25, Rawshan Ara, 35, Minal Hasan, 28, Azizul Islam Taku, 35, Morjina, 37, Mortaza, 28 and Shafiuddin, 35
