Mosquito eradication

Chumki Shaha, Old D.O.H.S, Dhaka, on e-mail

Why are the authorities unwilling to take steps in eradicating mosquitoes? Have they forgotten what happened last year? How did dengue, a deadly disease caused by mosquito bites, broke out in almost an epidemic form and took its toll on many.

The monsoons has set in, the best time for mosquito breeding. Specialists have warned that if the larvae of the Aedes mosquito are not destroyed, this year dengue will strike more severely. Why aren't the authorities paying heed to this warning?
