Biography

Master Sergeant Thomas J. White was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  He entered the U.S. Army in April 1985, attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas as an Environmental Health Specialist (91S).  His first assignment was as an Environmental Health Specialist with the 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, South Korea.  Following assignments include Team Leader, LA Detachment (Entomology), 5th Preventive Medicine Unit, South Korea; NCOIC, Environmental Health Section and NCOIC, Preventive Medicine Service, Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia; Team Leader, 224th Medical Detachment (Environmental Engineering), 44th Medical Brigade, Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm/Provide Relief; U.S. Army Recruiter, Dallas Recruiting Battalion, Corsicana, Texas; NCOIC, Brigade Operations and Clinical Instructor, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland; Platoon Sergeant, 702nd Main Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, South Korea; and NCOIC, Medical Zoology Branch and Chief Enlisted Instructor, Department of Preventive Health Services, Army Medical Department Center and School, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  MSG White currently serves as the NCOIC, Preventive Medicine Service, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and as the Senior Preventive Medicine NCO, North Atlantic Regional Medical Command, Washington D.C.

 

MSG White has completed numerous service schools to include the Instructor Training Course, Army Recruiter Course, Training Developer Course, and was the first NCO to attend the Preventive Medicine Program Management Course.  Additionally, he has attended the following NCOES courses: Primary Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, and the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course.  His civilian education includes an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences in General Studies from Georgia Military College; a Bachelor in Business Administration, specializing in Health Care Administration, from Wayland Baptist University; and a Master of Business Administration with an area of emphasis in Health Services Management from Webster University.

 

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (5 Oak Leaf Clusters), Good Conduct Medal (5 Knots), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 Bronze Service Stars), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Number 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Number 3), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Army Superior Unit Award.  His badges include the U.S. Army Recruiter Gold Badge.  MSG White has also been awarded the Order of Military Medical Merit.

 

MSG White has recently been appointed as Adjunct Faculty at Potomac College in Washington DC.  He is married to Jongsoon and they currently reside in Rockville, Maryland.
