Ode to Connecticon!

This is the only convention in CT and it covers anime, gaming of all kinds and sci-fi, ect. This is a great con to attend and I encourage any1 living in this state to attend one year.

Please check out their site:  CONNECTICON.org!

Heres a link to my pics I took at each year I attended in my yahoo! photos:

Straight from the site: ConnectiCon is not only the premier web comic convention; it is also New England's largest multi-genre convention each summer. With primary focii of web comics, anime, gaming and related genres - ConnectiCon is certain to have appeal for everyone. ConnectiCon provides nearly 2,000 hours of scheduled events for attendees to participate in from board games to Cosplay, creative arts workshops to video gaming, live action roleplaying to screenings of your favourite anime series and movies.

A bit of its history: Beginning in 2003 Ctcon became a growing event. They have changed locations for Uhart (university of hartford) to the new Hartford convention center with it still is. This is created and magmanaged by Matt Daigle and Brianna Benn, along with many helpers making a great experience possible. Its icon is a space bunny and her robot, the bunny is usually there in cosplay.

2006: July 7-9, in the same spot in the center as last year. A few things were re-aranged for the better, like the artist getting moved out to the hall to use more space for dealers. This year had some great cosplay and i managed to get a good number of shots, compaired to the last years. My 1st year as a cosplayer too, trust me it adds to the fun. I did the usual fri,sat only so i'd like to stay for a suday next year if i can. It's very tiring going around all day and then the next. Glad I get to see and hang with my friends.

2005: July 15-17. The new Hartford convention center opened up and the con got an expensive move. One that put them in debt, but ctcon was saved by the love and money of its patrons. The areas were all together for once, just smaller altogether. Walking in up a set of stairs the registation area along with Starbucks comes into view with its lines. After getting your id chains, there is a set of escalators waiting to take you up to the main floor of the con. There are tables for other cons and the small dance floor right in front of you along with many puffy chairs to rest on, and the doors to the dealers room. To each side are the rooms that host panels and anime with small concession stands at each end. The cosplay was in larger numbers then last year, but not enough that people not dressed stand right out.

2004: July 16-18.  Held at UHart again. The events were scattered in various locations on campus. The artist's colony was located next to the dealers room in the same hall as the registration area. The panels and anime viewing rooms were in separate buildings. I was only able to spend a few hours on a Saturday but it was more then enough to get me coming back.

2003: held at UHart in around July 15. I did not attend so can't say much. It went over well enough to continue its legacy.
