Darating ang Umaga comes from the same production team behind Pangako Sa Yo and Kaytagal Kang Hinintay, with Pangako's director Rory Quintos back at the helm with Pangako headwriter Dado Lumibao.
Darating ang Umaga starts in the small, impoverished provincial town of San Mateo, where sisters Mira (Eula Valdez) and Arriana (Vina Morales) work at the stone quarry owned by the cruel Don Lucio (Dante Rivero). Resigned to their miserable lives, Mira and Arriana promise to always be together, that they would rather be slaves together than let one go free while leaving the other enslaved.
While working at the quarry, however, three things happened that changed both sisters' lives forever. First, Arriana finds a medallion that town lore and legend believe will bring its owner incredible good fortune. Then a handsome newcomer named Abel (Ian Veneracion) comes to San Mateo. Finally, in an incredible betrayal, one of the sisters escapes the quarry and leaves the other behind, effectively destroying the promise they made to never leave each other.
The action moves forward twenty years to the present, and into the lives of best friends Nathanael (Patrick Garcia), a poor and responsible but strong-willed young man and Rafael (Danilo Barrios), a timid boy raised in wealth by his successful mother Cassandra. Fate has marked a different path for Nathanael and Rafael, however, as both friends find themselves in love with the beautiful but feisty Nicole (Jodi Sta. Maria), and eventually, at odds with each other.
In the tradition of ABS-CBN's great family teleseryes, like Pangako sa 'Yo and Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, Darating ang Umaga's production crew recruited a top-notch cast to fill out the roles in this TV event. Also featured in Darating ang Umaga are Glydel Mercado, Aiza Marquez, Sharmaine Suarez, Aljon Jimenez, Daria Ramirez, Spanky Manikan, Maribeth Bichara, Izza Ignacio, William Lorenzo and Sarji Ruiz. Mae Cruz acts as Darating ang Umaga's co-director, while Ricky Lee is the show's creative manager. Executive producer is Raymund Dizon While Malou N. Santos serves as the Executive In Charge of Production.
