"My first impression of Desiree was that she was mataray because of her looks. But when I got to know her, I found out she was nice", says Jodi. "She was the first one I had a chance to talk to," says Desiree, "we had instant rapport kaya it's not surprising that we became best friends."
The two became closer when they had workshops almost every day, and more so when they were both cast in the teen show Tabing Ilog. Although the pair doesn't go out together as much as they'd like to due to their hectic skeds, they make an effort to spend time together. "We go out for a bite to eat. What Jodi loves to do most is eat," says Desiree. "Tapos kwentuhan lang", Jodi chimes in.
Because of Jodi's love for food, Desiree has developed a more exotic palate. During a sleepover, both girls suddenly developed a midnight craving for chow. After getting their fill at a nearby fastfood joint, Desiree was surprised to see Jodi stop to buy some balut from a vendor. "She still wanted to eat!" says Desiree. "For the first time, I ate balut with patis and vinegar." Their advice for maintaining a good friendship? "Keep communication lines open", says Jodi. "We always make it a point to talk. We discuss everything under the sun: love life, family, friends, etc. We call and text constantly to check if the other is doing fine. We also write letters to each other."
