Pretty and versatile -- that's Jodi Santamaria :)

Much as she is adored by girls and boys alike, some still perceive Jodi Chrissie Santamaria as "mataray." Well, it must be her eyes...although she does admit to be really moody. But in fairness, Jodi is a charming and amiable young lady who has won the hearts of many in her "Magpakatotoo Ka Sister" Sprite commercial.

Before her famous commercial debut, Jodi was a regular girl eating at KFC. A talent manager approached her then and asked her to audition for Star Circle. She lined up with almost 2,000 other hopefuls at Talent Center. Fate must have had it all planned out because from the thousands who auditioned that day, 12 were picked and Jodi was one of them.

Jodi's career began with a couple of TV appearances. Her biggest TV break ever was when she was cast as one of the eight mainstays in the new teen-oriented show "Tabing-ilog" which replaced the Sunday afternoon court drama "Ipaglaban Mo". Since then, her feisty character George became a bypass in every viewer's mouth. More blessings seem to come Jodi's way when shortly thereafter, she was offered a role in the would-be-top-rating soap Pangako Sa 'Yo as Jericho Rosales' kind-hearted sister Lia.

Since then, Jodi has conquered the TV scene but has yet to wow a bigger audience: the moviegoers. And after a string of ho-hum movies, she landed a pivotal role in Star Cinema's 2001 Metro Manila Film Festival Entry "Bagong Buwan", topbilled by Cesar Montano and directed by no less than the critically acclaimed Marilou Diaz-Abaya. Jodi deviated from her usual "girlfriend" role and gave justice to her character Dolor, a young pregnant Christian wife caught in the Mindanao crossfire. Her remarkable performance in the movie awed moviegoers and critics alike, and thus Jodi was declared as the most promising female star of the year. And the rest as they say, is history.

Today, Jodi is slowly but surely making a mark for herself in the industry as a very pretty and very versatile actress.  She never fails to amaze the audience and the critics with her amazing acting skills. Jodi has certainly learned and improved her craft. I wouldn't be surprised if someday, she finally gets nominated and wins an acting plum for her turn.
