| Rodger Darwin Moss, Sr was born April 11, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born to Clyde and Christine Moss. His parents later had Clyde(Ed) Edward Moss and Karl Lee Moss, his brothers and the family moved to Granville. Being the first family of Afican decent in Granville, my father had many battles with racism and predjudice. Rising above it all he was able to graduate from Granville High and begin his post-secondary career. After graduating he inlisted into the United States Marine Corp. Unfortunitly is was at the peak time of the US involvement in the Vietnam War. He was sent over to "country" and spent his time there are a messenger. After his time served in Vietnam he then came back to the US in a very unwelcomed return. Apon his return he married his first wife and had his first child, Kimberly Jean Moss. After sometime he divorced his first wife. Even though divorce is really not the way to go, I am grateful that this did happen. He then began attending Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. In one of his classes he was one of only two people of color in the class. The other person happened to be Ellen Dean. A beautiful 18 year old girl from Columbus living in Worthington. They began dating and then on August 18, 1972 they were married. After being married 9 years they had three children together including me. He was a great spiritual leader within the family. If there was one thing that I learned from my father was my spirtuality, My love for God was instilled at an early age. I am so thankful to have been born to this man and raised the way I was. I owe my salvation to him and will never really be able to thank him for everything he did. On May 20, 1999, Rodger Moss died. I think the saddest part is I really didn't get to know my father. I love him and will always think about the things that he did for me. For now though, this page will remail just filled with pictures until I can find out somemore information about his life. |
