Time Slips Away
Listening to My Radio

Turn on the radio
Let Mozart play
Let the master carry
Your spirit away

Music for mind,
heart, body, and soul
Inspirational, devotional,
poignant to its full

Turn on the radio
Let Ludwig have life
Let his symphonies ring out
As sharp as the knife

Music for loved ones
sitting nearby,
that you wish to share
yet, you do not know why

Turn on the radio
Let Tchaikovsky be heard
Let a stray thought take wing
and soar like a bird

Music for life,
to take to the grave
The greats will continue
to live on when I leave

Oh, but how my imagination
has wandered from me
My station has gone
to commercials, I see

No point in listening
now the program is done
The clock chimes--
'Tis already one

Well, what do you know,
an hour has come
and gone with the wind,
as my mind has done

It is astonishing how quickly
our heads get away
If it wasn't attached,
I swear mine wouldn't stay

It'd be up in the clouds,
playing music 'till noon
Oh dear, what now?
Is that speck the moon?

Another hour has slipped
from my hands, and been lost
but, it wasn't such
a terrible cost

I had for myself
a terribly good time
Listening to music
didn't cost me a dime

But, now that it's over
and I'm once again bored--
I know what I'll do--
my mind strikes a chord

I'll play my piano
and create my own tunes,
just as the masters did,
during Yesterday's moons
