Written long before the movie "The Passion of the Christ"
The lamps burn in the temples
The hearts of men are on fire
Their thoughts are filled with hatred
And corruptive desire
They know not what they have done
Nor what they are going to do
For, I know my end is near, Lord
And I still look to you
But, in your hands
I may trust my fate
And endure their torment,
Cruelty, and hate
I wish only that you would have
Mercy on the people of Earth
For, their suffering will be greater than mine
And so it will be, for their birthed
The years will pass on
And some will find the light
But, I pray Lord
That this choice is right
