Daylight Robbery

As the sun glistens, in the morning sky, to wake the world, I feel my heart take flight and soar to the heavens. What is it that makes me rejoice, whenever I see that blinding light, and feel its rays on my face? Why do I smile so?

Why do I beam as the sun rises? Why do I pretend to be its child? What is this desire I have always known, yet never been able to name? A desire for the light.

Higher and higher it soars. Higher and higher I fly. My spirit has reached an unknown height. Never have I been here before. Yet, we know each other. And the light takes me for its own. I am one with the light.

The sun travels across the pale blue sky, and I watch as it fades to dark. My smile fades with it, and my heart descends with its rays.

As the sun places me gently down upon the Earth, I am malcontent. No longer may I bask in its glory. No longer may I bathe in its beauty. Until tomorrow, it is gone.

The Sun Child must return home. Night has come at last, and the moon has stolen the day from my eyes.
