Can't Get Her Out
(a poem in free verse)

Hah! You're red with envy, I know!
How could she possibly take me,
When you were so sure she wanted you?
How could she steal that bittersweet fruit that was your heart,
Take only the smallest bite,
And then toss it so carelessly aside?
It would have been better had she abstianed
Her lips were snares--her toungue, the bear trap;
The taste of honey made your lust grow stronger.

You fought to keep her,
For, without her you would be nothing.
So, what are you now?

You didn't suspect that she'd play you;
Did you?
You didn't think...
and now it's too late.

Because I have her,
And I won't let her go

I can't...
She's gotten under my skin...
And I can't seem to... get... her...
out.....  ...  .. .
