"And my figure has filled out quite nicely," said Asuka Souryu, briefly cupping her breasts. Captain Misato Katsuragi and her three youthful charges could only stare at the fourteen-year-old girl. The boys all suffered nosebleeds of varying severity. Is this a typical day on board an aircraft carrier?
"So, Feuerröschen, will you introduce me to your friends?" came a voice from the open door that Asuka had emerged from only moments before, followed immediately by the speaker. The newcomer was a tall Caucasian woman with short blonde hair, dressed in an unfamiliar grey uniform. Her yellow shoulder patches were decorated by a single gold-coloured stylized rose. She addressed Misato.
"Captain Katsuragi? I am Major Tove Jakobson, the new European Union liaison officer to NERV."
Misato saluted the major, trying furiously to get her thoughts into some semblance of order. What on Earth are we supposed to do with a liaison officer? And which poor sod is going to end up saddled with keeping her out of mischief? We are desperately short on staff already... "Pleased to meet you, Major, uh, Yakobson." Misato extended her hand to shake hands with her.
Major Jakobson took Misato's hand in hers and raised it to her lips, clicking her heels and kissing the back of her hand, gazing into Misato's eyes. "Enchantée." She released Misato's hand, surreptitiously dabbing at her nose with a tissue. "I am looking forward to working with you, Captain Katsuragi."
To make a long story short:
Due to NERV being chronically undermanned, Tove ends up working full-time for NERV. Her brilliant tactical ideas save the day more than once. Her perceptive comments and constant support make Shinji, Asuka and Rei emotionally stable and forge unbreakable bonds of loyalty and friendship between the three Eva pilots. Indeed, there is nothing she cannot do better than anybody else. (Except of course, physically pilot an Eva.) Much hilarity ensues when Tove, Misato and Asuka stay up all night singing German drinking songs.
Finally, one night when a group of NERV officers are out partying, comes the Significant Karaoke Scene (tm) when Misato admits to herself that she loves Tove. The story ends rather abruptly after that as the two of them stagger into a taxi to get to Misato's apartment, where they just barely make it into her bedroom before ripping off each other's clothes.
