After the death of his beloved Murasaki, Genji grieves so deeply that he turns into a giant panda. The fate of his house is now up to Ranji, his even more talented and attractive son (or daughter).
First Ranji marries Akai, the daughter of To no Chujo, Genji's oldest friend. Ranji then proceeds to pursue a career in the Imperial Court even more stunningly successful than that of the Shining Lord, Genji. No history of the Heian era can be complete without extensive reference to the Pigtailed Lord, Minamoto Ranji.
Ranji also has supernatural allies. Since the Baikingu people recently converted to the faith of Shin Seiki Evangelion, the goddess Belldandy lost her job. So, to keep herself in nectar and ambrosia, she has agreed to help Ranji change into appropriate gender whenever necessary. This of course not only makes Ranji extremely popular with all the factions in the Imperial Court, it also provides for plenty of opportunity for both yaoi, yuri and straight hentai goodness.
Meanwhile, at the western end of the Glass Road, Aoi and Midori fight it out in the streets of the capital of the Romajin Emperor. In other words, a perfectly ordinary day in Constantinople. A certain Captain Erminia of the Empress's Guard distinguishes herself in putting down the riots, and the grateful Emperor grants her the province of Paros in fief.
