| Pretty Vacant zine: First off, where did the name Morningwood come from?
Chantal: We came up with the name Morningwood when i woke up in the morning with a huge hard on. Pretty Vacant zine: Your band has been around only a couple of years and already it is seeing so much success. What was it like first starting out? Chantal: We definetly spent a lot of time "paying our dues", we've played shitholes to shit crowds, but it all makes you a better performer. When stuff starts to go well it all sort of snowballs and picks up the pace really quickly, which is what feels like is happening now. Everything else we have worked really hard for, so I feel like whatever successes we are experiencing are well deserved. I work hard for my lucky breaks. Pretty Vacant zine: And you do a great job, you do deserve it. Your album is coming out in January. I dont want you to give away too much, but what's your favorite song from it? Chantal: Hmm..that is like asking me to choose my favorite kid, they all have different places in my heart and I guess in ways I love them all equally. . . . but if I HAD to choose then I might say either "Nu Rock" or "Ride The Lights". Pretty Vacant zine: i cant wait to hear them! My favorite song right now by your band is "Jettsetter". I must confess it's inspired me a lot. What's it about? Chantal: I wrote the lyrics while I was away in London a couple of years ago and I really missed my then boyfriend and Pedro and was having a shitstorm of a time. I woke up in the middle of the night singing it. I spoke to Pedro who was on tour in the US at the time and he was working on a song. When we got together the first time when I got back, we put the music and the lyrics together and they fit perfectly. Pretty Vacant zine: It's amazing when things like that happen. And finally, what do you love about music? Chantal: The question is what DON'T I love about music? And the answer is...NOTHING. Pretty Vacant zine: Awesome :) Anything you want to add?
