Maria Alejandra Delfino was born on the 20 February 1981 in Caracas, Venezuela. Since her sister couldn't pronounce her name properly, she was instead nicknamed 'Majandra.'(pronounced "ma-han-dra")
At age 3, she moved with her Cuban-American mother, and Venezuelan father to Miami, Florida. Growing up in the US, Majandra excelled in academics, but found more interest in the arts, and soon enrolled in ballet, singing and acting lessons. At the age of 10, Majandra danced with the Miami Ballet in the play "The Nut-Cracker." She also took part in school plays and in the community theatre. At the age of 11, Majandra put her singing skills to use, and joined a all-girls singing quartet called "China Doll" which her best friend Samamtha Gibb (daughter of Bee Gees singer Maurice Gibb) was also in. The group specialized in Latin-styled pop. The girls enjoyed small success after they opened for the Bee Gees at a benefit concert in Miami Beach. A few years later, both Majandra and Samamtha left the group.
At age 15, and with acting skills behind her, Majandra decided to pursure her dreams in acting, much to the dismay of her parents. They gave her a 6 month deadline to pursue a role, if she failed, then she would have to go back and concentrate on her school work instead. Within a few short months, Majandra had secured herself with an agent, and was soon landing roles in various tv and film productions.
It wasn't until 1999 when majandra auditioned for a role of Maria DeLuca on a WB show called Roswell High, that gave her instant fame and fans from all over the world.
