Pen name: I have lots. J, Julie, Juliette, Renee, Jules, Ren, Kat, or you can come up with something completely unique for me if you'd like!!
Homepage: don't have one yet
Why did you start writing fic? I guess I got creative
one day and started writing down my ideas into stories
Where are you from? How has your location affected your writing? The US, I don't think it's affected it in any way, just don't know a whole lot of pretender fans.
What all kinds of genre
and pairings are you interested in reading? anything
my mind sets itself to creating. but usually I don't go Eve style and write
nc-17!! LOL! sometimes an action story, drama, or humor. I like seeing Ms.
Parker and Jarod paired up as a couple, or not paired up as a couple, but
paired up
as a team to find out who they are. Or get an emotional thing going and get
Sydney involved as a father figure to both Ms.P and J!!
What kind of summary,
keywords, pairing, etc. really gets your heart pounding before you even read
the first line of the story? a little summary like what
the story's situation is about and then what will happen in different situations
with it. something like: Jarod and Ms. P go back to the island to search again
for the
scrolls, but what happens when they meet up with someone on the island who
doesn't want them there? or Jarod has been captured by the centre again, but
will Ms. P's love for Jarod drive her to helping him escape?
What is your secret strategy for writing good sex scenes? I don't know! I don't usually write NC-17 material..
What causes you the most difficulty while you're writing a story? If my inspiration crashes on me, my brain blanks out on the scene I'm writing, or I reach a dead end in the plot and wonder what to do next with it. Just have to wait for the next moment of inspiration, or hour, or day, or week...
What advice would you
give someone who is thinking about writing their very first fic? don't
get involved with the pretender challenge loons? nah!
kidding! write anything you come up with down on paper or type it up and then
make sense of it later, if you reach a dead end, ask for help, or find, read,or
watch
something that will help lend that inspiration. if you reach a scene in a
pretender fic. and you're not sure what Jarod would say, get out some tapes,
or go to the soundfiles on the computer!
What music, if any, most inspires you to write? What do you like to listen to while writing? anything that will inspire, irish music sometimes helps. It depends on the mood I'm in when I'm writing or the type of story I'm writing.
Do you ever get writer's block, and how do you cope with it? yes, writer's block really sucks. coping is not easy. you just have to wait for the next moment when your opportunity knocks on the right side of your brain with more ideas!! might be a few minutes, might be an hour, might be a day, might even be a week, I've had that happen. It's not fun, but sometimes you can't help it.
Why did you originally
get involved with Pretender? How did the show catch your attention enough
to keep you watching? I originally got involved when
I was watching tv one day and I couldn't find anything to watch, I started
flipping channels, I heard a cute guy say something about the truth and heard
the name Jarod, watched one episode and was automatically hooked.
Have you found that your
own relationships have altered your writing in any way? Has it helped it to
become more detailed and thorough? I think relationships
in general or relationships I've had have helped writing, to come up with
things for relationships in the story, there's more reality to them and you
can see them rather than writing in a scene and not being able to see it clearly
and it's like one of those 50s movies like a pleasantville movie or something
where there's relationships that are so cheesy you wanna throw up
watching it. and relationships where the people keep secrets from each other
to give it a little suspense about who they are, I guess it's all drama, but
it happens.
How much of a factor does characterization play in your stories? Do you find yourself drifting away from the original characters and developing them into something more your own?I like to stick with the characters and how they are, but then there are some stories where I change how things go, like we all know Ms. P has a thing for Jarod, but does she ever actually take that up in the movies or series? nope, but in the stories it's what you want to see that counts, so I like to change what they do sometimes, but not always.
What else would you like people to know about your stories:
that I put a lot of creativity and life into them, I try to write whenever
I can or get an idea for one. I'm sure you'll enjoy my stories, cause I enjoy
writing them so people can enjoy reading them.
