ANNUAL ROOKIE DRAFT:

- Each Offseason, Managers will convene for the annual 2-round Rookie Draft, sometime after
the NBA's entry draft.. The Draft Pool consists of players who will be NBA rookies next season.
- Order of Selection:
- The four worst teams of the preceding season are eligible for the top 4 picks,
we will randomize the order, similar to the NBA draft lottery:
- Each of the four worst teams will be assigned to real life NBA lottery teams,
and their lottery fate will follow the real life lottery fate of those teams.
- Details will be exacted when relevant, but the worst team in our league will be assigned
to some of the worst NBA teams, 2nd worst to some of the 2nd worst, and so on.
- The picks in our rookie draft will correspond to the order that those real life NBA teams finished in the NBA draft lottery - whichever NBA teams picks highest, their assigned Hoops GM team will pick first, etc..
*The Strategy*
- It's a bit elaborate, but we needed a fair way to truly randomize the lottery teams. Plus, it's kindda fun.
- Picks 5 through 12 follow in reverse order of the preceding year's standings, (for the remaining top 8 teams).
- Tie's decided by a coin flip.
- Rookie Contracts:
- Rookies drafted in the 1st round are given a contract of ZERO $Million, for 4 years.
- Yes, THEY'RE FREE FOR 4 YEARS.
- Rookies drafted in the 2nd round are given a contract of $0 Million for only 3 years.
*The Strategy*
- The draft is such a crapshoot, but these free rookie contracts give us a fun, low risk, high reward draft.
- We also won't have to worry about clearing cap room to sign our rookies.
- It'll be free to cut them, if they disappoint.
- Good players still under rookie contracts will be valuable as they count 0 towards the cap...
making successful drafting important !!
- Rookies not drafted in our rookie draft will become eligible to sign minimum contracts.
