RULES - League Dynamics

***************************************
PRESTIGE POINTS (career accolades)
***************************************
- We need a way to keep score over our entire careers, for the length of our franchises, over several seasons...
- So, at the end of each season, we'll get "Prestige Points", based on our season standings.

- Obviously, finishing first during the season is a very prestigious thing.
- The champ will get 15 prestige points, and the rest go as follows:

1st place.................. 15 Prestige points (like winning the NBA finals).
2nd place....................10 Prestige points (like making the NBA finals).
3rd and 4th....................7 Prestige points (like winning a playoff series or two) .
5th - 8th.........................5 Prestige Points (like making the NBA playoffs)
9th through 12th..............0 Prestige points (like being a lottery team)

- Don't forget, Prestige points are the third tiebreaker in securing Free Agents !

* The Strategy *
- You're not building a team, you're building a legacy...!

***************************************
GM APPROVAL
***************************************
- A league like this can only be worthwhile if you're playing with people you want to play with.

- So, putting it bluntly, your position as a Franchise GM lacks security ...
- At the end of each season, league GM's will send in approval votes of every other GM in the league.
- Either "YAY" or "NAY".

- GM's NEED 2/3 rds OF THE LEAGUE'S TOTAL APPROVAL VOTES, in order to stay in the league.

- Criteria for your approval will be basically anything your fellow GM's see fit...., for instance:
- If you keep making bad trades and diluting the league with your incompetence, other GM's may disapprove.
- If you're just generally a hard person to deal with, GM's may disapprove of you ...
- If you continually take too long to respond to email's/trade requests, GM's may disapprove of you for that...
- But obviously, it's a popularity contest... if you participate and get on with everyone, you'll likely be approved.

***************************************
NEW FRANCHISES:
***************************************
- Sooner or later, one of our franchises will quit, or be voted out....
- I'll basically just advertise for new GM's to take over that franchise 'as is'...
- They'll have the same roster as the former GM.

- Prestige Points will NOT carry over from the previous owner's reign, and all banners and awards will be discarded

- In extreme cases, existing contract situations will be modified, to give the new GM 'a fighting chance'.

***************************************
COMMISSIONER'S GENERAL PHILOSOPHY:
***************************************
- I wanted to make a competitive fantasy basketball league - a realistic simulation played over the long-term.
-  FOR FUN, interests sake.

- Competition can be fun, but it loses perspective when things get distasteful, too personal, unclassy.

- I am not in this simply "to win", i don't really care if i win just as long as the game is
competitive and has some sort of social grace.
- So there'll be times when GM's will simply have to trust me, I don't see myself cheating just to win.

- I have not written these rules in "Legal-eese". They are subject to change. I'm sure there are loop-holes, we will cross any bridge when we come to it.
