My name is Preston I am avidly pursuing a career in computer repair. I am
currently enrolled with Thompson's Education direct in a PC Repair course. I
have completed 34 of 37 lessons with an overall average of 97.75%. I plan on
taking the Comptia A+ certification exam in the spring of 2004 after I have completed my current educational program.
Computers have always been a facination for me. At the age of 12 I installed my first hard drive (10MB in and IBM 8088). Since then I have taken advantage of any opportunity to learn aspects of Hardware and Software installation and troubleshooting. I am currently 27 years old and quite familiar with IBM style PC's. I am knowledgable in DOS, Win3.1, Win95/98/98SE, win2k, Win2Kpro, and XP sytems. I have gained my experience as a hobby upgrading PC's for the past 15 years. My background with DOS and the complexity of early style PC's gives me skills I believe most in my age group may not posses (ex. Jumper settings, batch files, BOIS routines, and configuration files). I have always performed installations and upgrades for friends, family, and myself. I recieved my diploma from Chancellor High School in 1995 and went on to college for Computer Engineering (27 credits achieved). Towards the second year my Finacial Aid was cut. Repairing and upgrading PC's is something I truly enjoy. I have now decided to pursue it as a career.
