PRJ Bio, Jim Gauthier (trumpet)
Jim Gauthier received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Iowa and his Master of Fine Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota.  For seven years he taught trumpet at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he directed the University Jazz Ensemble and Brass Ensemble.  A professional trumpeter for 30 years, Jim has performed with many artists and organizations, including Lena Horne, Sammy Davis Jr., The Glenn Miller Orchestra featuring Ray McKinley, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera Orchestra, and the national touring companies of Evita, Sugar Babies, and Zorba the Greek.

As a clinician and soloist, Dr. Gauthier has performed with various school organizations all over the world.  In 1980, he toured Poland as the guest of the Polish Jazz Society, soloing with big bands, small jazz combos, and giving private lessons to students throughout the country.

Jim is married and has three grown children, an opera singer, a drummer, and a ballerina.
