Character: The individuals that put action in the story. Some characters are two-dimensional (not well-defined) and some are three dimensional (Well defined). Setting: The place or time of a story. It can either be realistic or imaginary. Plot: The chain of events that take place in a story. The plot is what happens. Usually, there is a conflict that gets resolved. Exposition: The exposition lays the groundwork. Characters are introduced, the setting described, and the plot unfolds. Inciting Incident: the incident that starts off the plot Rising Action: Where the conflict develops. Climax: An incident that cannot be taken back. Falling Action: The action after the climax Denouement (Resolution): The part of the story that resolves the problem Theme: The central idea or message in a story |
