Eggnog

Here are some drink recipes for your holiday entertaining.
1 cup bar sugar
1 dozen eggs
1 1/2 quarts milk
1 pint whipped heavy cream
1 bottle brandy
Separate eggs and beat the yolks with sugar in a large punch bowl.
Stir in milk and whipped cream.
Add brandy and refrigerate for an hour.
Before serving, whip egg whites and fold into eggnog.
Garnish with fresh nutmeg
Angels Delight Christmas Drink
1/4 c Whipping cream
7 Scoops Ice cream
1/2 c Chopped pecans
1 Banana
Put all of these in a blender.
Put whipped cream and nuts on top of glasses.
Christmas Cheer
1 gallon apple cider
8 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 cups rum
1 cup applejack
3/4 cup apple schnapps
Bring cider and cinnamon to a boil.
Reduce heat and add liquor, stirring until heated.
Serve in pousse-cafe glasses.
Garnish with cinnamon sticks.
Dog Sled
1 1/2 oz. Canadian whisky
1 1/2 oz. orange juice
1 tsp. grenadine
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Mix all ingredients with cracked ice in a shaker or blender.
Pour into a chilled Old Fashioned glass.
Santa's Little Helper
splash of grenadine
splash each of Coke and Sprite
3 oz. lemonade
2 tbsp. lime juice
1 scoop raspberry sorbet
1 scoop vanilla bean ice cream
1 cup ice
Blend all ingredients until smooth and thick.
Pour into a pint glass.
Top with whipped cream, then drizzle cream with additional grenadine.
Garnish with a cherry.
Reindeer Punch
6 oz. frozen lemonade concentrate, undiluted
6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate, undiluted
6 cups water
1/2 cup grenadine
1 quart ginger ale, chilled
Combine first 4 ingredients in a punch bowl.
Add ice cubes and mix in ginger ale.
Garnish with lemon slices.
Cranberry Christmas Punch
3 oz. cherry gelatin
1 cup boiling water
6 oz. can frozen lemonade
3 cups cold water
1 qt. cranberry juice, chilled
2 trays of ice cubes
1 pint ginger ale, chilled
Fruit flavoured sherbet, optional
Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
Stir in lemonade.
Add cold water
and cranberry juice.
Place in large bowl with ice cubes or in molded
ring.
Pour in ginger ale just before serving.
Add balls of sherbet if desired.

Cranberry-Pecan Bread

Posted by Starr 1/2 cup orange flavoured liqueur (I just use orange juice)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick, halved
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries (or defrosted if frozen)
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup chopped, toasted pecans
1 teaspoon orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a saucepan, combine the orange liqueur, sugar, water, cloves, and cinnamon stick and bring to a boil.
Stir to dissolve the sugar. Add the cranberries.
Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook until the berries burst, about 8 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let the berries cool in the liquid.
Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves and discard.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly grease a 9 1/4 by 5 1/4 by 2 1/2-inch loaf pan.
In a mixer bowl, using the mixer on high speed (or using a hand mixer), cream the sugar and butter.
Add the eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
Into a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk and orange juice.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk mixture to the creamed butter, beating after the addition of each.
Fold in the reserved cranberry mixture, pecans, orange zest and vanilla.
Pour into the prepared loaf pan. Bake until a tester comes out clean, 55 to 60 minutes.
Turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
(Can be made ahead. Wrap tightly and store at room temperature 1 day or freeze for up to 2 weeks.)

Some Baileys drinks for Xmas eve

Baileys Hot Milk Punch
• 3 shots hot milk
• 1 shot Baileys
• 1 shot brandy
• 1 tsp (5 ml) sugar
• dash ground nutmeg
Combine Baileys and brandy to dissolve sugar.
Add hot milk and stir, then sprinkle with nutmeg.
Baileys Coffee
• 1 cup (250 ml) hot coffee
• 3 tbsp (45 ml) Baileys
• whipped cream
• chocolate flake
Pour Baileys into freshly brewed coffee and top with whipped cream and chocolate flake.
Irish Kiss
• 1 cup hot coffee
• 2 parts Baileys
• 1 part |Irish Whiskey
• whipped cream
• Creme de Menthe
In a coffee glass, pour Baileys and Whiskey.
Add the coffee and float whipped cream on top, pour on the Creme de Menthe.
