Stan Brandon

More often seen behind a stage manager’s desk, or performing technical wizardry in the small hours of the morning, Stan is reprising his role as Mr C from the Frontline Theatre Co. production of Rough for Theatre 2 at the Becket conference at the University of Texas in 1984.  Stan helped Robert set up Frontline in Austin, and has worked as a graphic designer for more than 12 years.  Stan currently lives in Robert’s shed.

Tom Crowther

Tom enjoys acting in supporting roles.  He has directed on a number of occasions, most recently a children’s opera – Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde at Oxford Town Hall.  Whilst studying English at Cambridge, Tom was involved in lots of productions, including playing Gus/Augustus/Chater in Arcadia.  Tom returned to Arcadia in January to play the role of Noakes in Pressgang’s Old Fire Station production. Tom is currently pursuing a career as a writer and poet.

Selin Bullocke

Selin is in her second year at Oxford Brookes studying English and Fine Art.  She has worked with Pressgang on one other show, Peaches, performed last summer at the BT.  Previous shows include Cloud Nine and Interviewing Angels, which won a Fringe First award at Edinburgh last summer.  Selin can be seen this weekend in the Phoenix cinema’s short film collection, Showcasing Shorts.  She would very much like pursue a career in theatre.

Rachel Fishwick

Rachel is a 3rd year classicist at Merton.  This is her third Pressgang production, following Peaches (BT) and Arcadia (OFS).  Her student theatre credits include Sophistry in the 2001 OUDS New Writing Festival (Best Supporting Actor), The Birds at the Playhouse, Uncle Vanya and Our Country's Good at Wadham, and six BT shows.  This term she will be appearing in Wilder Kafka (2nd week, BT), Madame de Sade (5th week, BT) and as the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet (6th week, OFS).

Ben Johnston

This is Ben’s first performance for Pressgang. He graduated in Theatre from Dartington College of Arts last year, having passed the time building remote-controlled teapots and using climbing equipment to fall twenty feet on a stage in slow-motion. Ben plans to head for London after the Summer to pursue audio/visual design and devised performance.

Giles Major

Giles really appreciates the chance to act again after a long break. Acting contrasts with his daytime role as a medical student at the John Radcliffe but he wouldn’t want to do one without the other. He likes doing serious plays as well as making people laugh.

Jo Noble

Jo trained at the Drama Centre and gained experience in repertory and touring companies interspersed with periods of directing and writing for theatre. She combined this with teaching Theatre Studies and Performing Arts at the Oxford College of Further Education.  Recent credits include: Hannah in Arcadia – Pressgang, Gallactia in Howard Barker’s Scenes From An Execution, Doris in Charlotte Keatley’s My Mother Said I Never Should, Fanny in April D’Angelis’ The Life and Times of Fanny Hill – Pressgang.  Speaking in Tongues – Such Stuff Theatre Co.  Harold Pinter’s Old Times – Stagecraft Theatre Co. Radio work includes a series of plays for the BBC. Last year she directed Frank McGuinness’ Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me for Pressgang.

Robert Osborn

Robert lectured in English and Theatre Studies at Lancaster University until 1981 when he emigrated to Texas. He formed and ran his own theatre company dedicated to new writing in Austin. He is now Head of Drama at St Clare’s, Oxford. For Pressgang he has directed a number of new plays and was most recently seen as Bernard in Arcadia.

Harry Smith

When Harry is not acting he publishes maths textbooks.  He has lived in Oxford for a year and has appeared as Septimus in Arcadia – Pressgang, Frank in Peaches – Pressgang, and Lorca’s Yerma.  Previous theatre credits include Tereus in The Love of the Nightingale, a USA tour of Macbeth with the Cambridge University ADC, Serious Money at the Cambridge Arts Theatre and a devised clown show at the Edinburgh Fringe.  He has also embarrassed himself on a number of occasions with the Footlights.

Graham Topping

Graham has worked as an actor, director and lighting designer in Oxford since the late '70s. He has acted in a national Shakespeare tour, lectures part-time in Theatre Studies at Oxford Brookes University, and writes on music and theatre for national magazines. For eight years he was a regular theatre reviewer for the Oxford Times. For Pressgang he has directed many shows, including Arcadia at the Old Fire Station in January.  He was most recently seen in Frank McGuinness’ Someone who’ll watch over me.
