LETTER FROM DUSTIN MEADOWS! OF RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT\par
\par
\pard \fs24
Dear Fans And Supporters Of Running For President,\par
\par
ab A lot of things have happened in the last few months, both inside and outside of the band. \softline
For those of you who don{舗\'92}t know, Nick Simmons is no longer a member of RFP. He parted on \softline
his own terms, but if you still wish to see him he is now devoting his time to RC Garage Band. \softline
So, that{舗\'92}s the story with Nick.\par
ab As of right now, our next performance will be scheduled for January 2{\plain \fs24 \super nd}{\plain \fs24 at the Mean \softline
Bean in Delaware. If this date changes, an update will be posted on the website. \par
}{\plain \fs24 ab Luke Gullet will be taking over bass playing duties after this show as the newest member \softline
of Running For President, but for the Mean Bean show, our good friend Mark Glinka of Far \softline
From Grace will be filling in.\par
}{\plain \fs24 ab On to slightly more pressing issues-with everything that has been happening in our \softline
country and overseas in the past several months, I have noticed a forming of two factions in my \softline
hometown of Cardington. The animosity I have seen expressed between the {舠\'93}love it or leave it{舡\'94} \softline
folks and the so-called {舠\'93}tree-hugging hippie democrats{舡\'94} is simply appalling. I have friends on \softline
both sides, and it pains me to see all of this needless fighting between them. For example, I have \softline
a friend who took it upon himself to wear an inflammatory anti-Bush t-shirt to school recently. \softline
Needless to say, it was met with hostilities, cries of {舠\'93}love it or leave it{舡\'94}, and a fund raiser to send \softline
him to Canada. It is no secret that I myself am very anti-Bush, but I have the freedom to feel that \softline
way{舑\'96}it{舗\'92}s called the First Amendment. The {舠\'93}love it or leave it{舡\'94} people feel that their opinion is \softline
the only one that matters, and I don{舗\'92}t think that{舗\'92}s right. If you wish to support the president, that \softline
is your choice and I would in no way try to begrudge you that freedom. Unfortunately, what the \softline
{舠\'93}love it or leave it{舡\'94} people are forgetting is that this country was founded in rebellion. We came \softline
here because we were seeking freedom, and once we established a form of government, we \softline
replaced the promise of freedom with swiftly executed restraint (the Salem Witch Trials is a \softline
timeless example of this). I{舗\'92}m not saying that I{舗\'92}m right, and I{舗\'92}m not saying that the {舠\'93}love it or \softline
leave it{舡\'94} people are right either. What I{舗\'92}m saying is that we all need to remember that everyone \softline
has a voice (or is supposed to) and need to respect that freedom. I{舗\'92}m not asking everyone to hold \softline
hands and have Republican/Democrat mixer party, all I{舗\'92}m saying is that it{舗\'92}s not my place, your \softline
place, or anyone else{舗\'92}s place to tell people what to believe in. If you disagree with what I have to \softline
say, that{舗\'92}s fine, just don{舗\'92}t listen. But don{舗\'92}t for one second think that you can fucking tell me \softline
what I should or shouldn{舗\'92}t believe in, because right now the freedom of choice is one of the only \softline
freedoms we{舗\'92}re guaranteed. As much as some people in power would like to, they can{舗\'92}t police \softline
our thoughts, so it seems our mind is the only thing that is free to do what it wants. Tell me I{舗\'92}m \softline
wrong-but don{舗\'92}t tell me that I can{舗\'92}t believe I{舗\'92}m right.\ul0 ab \ul0 ab \par
}\fs24{\plain \fs24 ab Now that that{舗\'92}s out of the way, onto other fairly relevant RFP news. Some of you fans \softline
already know about my upcoming directorial and Sub Par Films debut, State Of Emergency. It is \softline
a satire that takes a look at the state of the nation and a general synopsis of what happens when \softline
we allow people like Bush to decide the country{舗\'92}s fate. Some of you may have even been \softline
involved in this project at one point and dropped out due to {舠\'93}political differences,{舡\'94} and for that I \softline
apologize. The film is scheduled to shoot somewhere near the end of March/beginning of April, \softline
and I will hopefully have it translated to DVD and VHS format within the month. For those of \softline
you are not involved with the project and would like to be, I can be reached at
}{\field{\*\fldinst { HYPERLINK "mailto:[email protected]." }}{\fldrslt{{\ul\cf2 [email protected].}}}}{\plain \fs24 Any additional support would be greatly welcomed and \softline
appreciated. This movie will also be the debut film of my own production company, Sub Par \softline
Films, and anyone who wishes to get involved with my film making endeavors need only to ask \softline
me. Over the course of the summer, I will be heavily involved with both Running For President \softline
shows and Sub Par Films, so both will be very much active during that time. At this time, I also \softline
want to thank Stuart O{舗\'92} Quinn for managing the RFP website, Brittany Fox the original RFP and \softline
uber-fan, John Hall for his constant devotion and assistance at all of our shows, and Jessica \softline
Ebert for her unfaltering dedication to this band and the people in it, as well as being our {舠\'93}free{舡\'94} \softline
lance photographer. I also want to thank everyone who has come out to the shows to support us, \softline
those who want to come to our shows but have yet to make it, and especially those who nay say \softline
us and doubt that we will be able to persevere and last as a band-all of you give us an infinite \softline
source of motivation and the unwavering determination to continue on and always try to surpass \softline
our boundaries as entertainers...from the bottom of my heart I thank you all, and I know Sean \softline
and Brett do as well. Hope to see all of you at the next show.\par
