Standard Color Guard practice procedures Naturally, Color Guard meetings will begin with the commander and NCOIC at the front of the room, as the NCOIC calls the team to attention. If equipment is needed from the logistics or weapons rooms, the commander may send the NCOIC to arrange the checking out of equipment. As is standard on all teams, the commander should call attendance, the correct response to each cadet's name being "Here, Sir/Ma'am". If equipment is needed, team members will form a ripple line to recieve equipment. As on all teams, the team members will proceed from signing out the equipment and fall in front of the ROTC building under the command of the NCOIC until the commander is present. The commander should then march the Color Guard to whatever destination he/she may have. Color Guard practices should be conducted in a professional, focused manner, and non-cadet visitors should not be tolerated. Cadets who are not a member of Color Guard should participate in the practice only when permitted by the commander. When practice is over, Color Guard should march from the practice destination to the front of the ROTC building. If equipment needs to be turned in, the NCOIC should be sent inside to arrange for this. The team should then enter the building in a column of files, form a ripple line, and after turning in what equipment is checked out, should fall in where the practice began. Typically the commander would then dismiss the team.
Basic Movements Proper command voice characteristics should always be used in Color Guard. March to position using left/right abouts: Cadence during left/right abouts should be the same as normal marching. Mark time in position: Cadence while marking time should be the same as while marching normally. Halt Present colors: Rifles present arms, and all flags excepting the American Flag will dip. Order colors: Rifles assume the position of "Carry Colors", and flags other than the American Flag resume upright position. March back to start using left/right abouts: left and right abouts returning require that the cadence be the same as normal marching Fall out: The order when exiting the area should be: American Guard, American Flag, and then other flags followed by their guards.
