The Sea

The sound of the rolling breakers fills my ears

Sea spray coats my skin with its tangy freshness, calming my fears

I walk over the sands, like sugar between my toes

Thinking of you wondering where life goes

Love is so bittersweet, wonderful yet frightening

Filling my soul with joy, yet my belly is tightening…

With anticipation and fear.

The tide is rolling in, sending plumes of spray into the sky

Life is fleeting, like the mist as it comes floating by

The seaweed on the shore is tossed aside as if of no worth

Do we know of this love before our own birth?

Are we destined to love, to seek it so blindly?

Thrashing ourselves in our haste to be kindly…

Cared for and loved
