Start the Morning Off Right

Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A good hot hearty meal can help maintain strength and keep the mind working well for the whole day. But, do you hate getting up early in the morning to have to fix that breakfast for your family? Have you ever thought about starting breakfast the night before in the crockpot? Think about how much time you spend in the morning fixing eggs, bacon, and hash browns. You might be able to get an extra twenty minutes of sleep if you didn't have to cook in the morning. Imagine waking up to the smell of a wonder hot breakfast and knowing you don't have to cook. One of the best things about fixing breakfast in a crockpot is that the crock retains heat for a long time after being turned off. And, no matter when in the morning your family members get up, they can have a warm breakfast waiting for them. Here are three breakfast recipes for you and your family to enjoy. Breakfast Casserole 1 32 oz. bag of frozen southern style hash brown potatoes 1 lb. bacon or sausage, cut into pieces, cooked and drained � cup onions, diced � cup green pepper, diced � lb cheddar cheese, diced 1 dozen eggs, beaten 1 cup milk salt and pepper, to taste Spray sides of crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Layer the frozen potatoes, bacon or sausage, onions, green pepper, and cheese in the crockpot in two or three layers. The top layer should be the cheese. Beat eggs with milk, salt and pepper. Pour over mixture in the crockpot. Cook on high for 10-12 hours. Sausage and Egg Casserole 12 beaten eggs 14 slices of bread 2 � cups of milk 2 � cups of grated cheddar or Monterey jack cheese 1 lb sausage, cooked and drained salt and pepper, to taste Spray sides of crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Cut bread into large squares. Layer the crockpot with the bread, sausage, and cheese until all is used. Last layer should be cheese. Beat eggs, milk, salt, and pepper together and pour over mixture. Cover and cook on low for 8-12 hours. Breakfast Apple Cobbler 8 medium tart apples, peeled and sliced 1 � cups sugar juice and rind of 1 lemon dash of cinnamon 1 � cups of granola fruit and nut cereal 2/3 cup of melted butter or margarine Spray crockpot with non-stick cooking spray. Place apples in crockpot; add sugar, lemon rind, and juice. Mix well. Combine cereal with butter and add to crockpot. Stir. Cook covered on low 6-8 hours, or overnight.
