Premier League is a punk rock band from Trondheim, Norway,
that was started back in October '92 of 6 guys who had the same opinion: There was no punk bands left in Trondheim!
Besides we wanted to play the same kinda music we used to listen to, which mainly was Old English School Punk.
We picked out songs that we liked, and then played them!
At the most we had a rep. containig 40 covers.
Besides our interests in football brought us together.
HISTORY
At first we had 2 lead singers, and all 6 members at the time, had since the early 80's,
played in different well known local bands like
DEAD SWINGERS, TMB, CORPORATE DEATHBURGER, BUD, JOSVA, FUNNY FARM and MEDICINE HOUSE.
After many ups and downs for the years to come,
we lost both our guitarists,
One of the lead singers quit while the other one went to jail when objecting to military service.
When Tommy got out of jail (for now), we found 2 new guitarists, and released our first 7" Fuck of you Boring Bastards on Dec.9th '95. It includes 2 selfmade songs, which made us realize that we wanted to concentrate on making our own music from now on.
Never the less; It became a HIT!
After a lot of misunderstanding about the membership in Premier League, we ended up in 1996 with no less than 3 guitarists.
Now we decided to make new material and wanted to go in studio,
but unfortunately for us, Tommy ended up in jail once more for the same reason as before.
In October 96 we finally made it!!!
We went down to Oslo and recorded 9 songs. Life was great!
But for how long was Adam in paradise? We held a release party for our new 7", called PREMIER LEAGUE at UFFA on May 16.th'97, and at this point ALL 3 wankers on guitar LEFT the building!!!
Once more we were three Amigos, still going strong.
In September '97 we got a new guitarist, this time a girl who had played in ex-female band FLINCHED FELICITY.
And the now fabulous four participated on December 19th '97 at a tribute to RAMONES-night at Veita Scene in Trondheim along with 14 other bands.
This gig resulted in a tribute-single of 6 bands that was released at Easter '98.
At this time we headhunted another guitarist, from a local band called LARVJUDAS.
Almost another year went by with some concerts and then our drummer, Archie decided that he was fed up of playing the drums. He wanted to play guitar instead!!!!!!
....He would then be number 9 (so far). Well, the hunting began for a new drummer and we ended up with DARRE, who also play in the band DISTRUST.
So now we are back to having three guitarists at once again. Not bad??
The rehearsals were up and going and we made lots of new songs in the months to come. Darre is a great drummer, exept he plays so fucking fast...
In September '99, things were really looking good, and we went to studio and recorded the CD Kick off time.
The release party was set on February 18.'00 and we were all one big happy family.
We did some gigs on UFFA in May and on Scum of the Slum festival in August, and in September Darre broke the news that he was gonna be a father. Then we put him on the transfer-list. His time didn't reach to play in both Premier League and Distrust, so he went back to them.
Here we go again, no drummer!
Archie decided to leave the sinking ship, so now we were quite amputated, so to speak.
But the rest of us decided that the show must go on, and we went out hunting - again.
Not long after, we found MIKAEL, a longhaired drummer from Nord-Tr�ndelag.
He also plays in a band called RASKAS TYRKIST� .
Vegard, our lead guitarist, was put on the transfer list and sold to a band called Brutal Kuk (Brutal Dick). He was never there when we needed him.
So, in August '01, we did our first concert with Mikael and only Line on guitar. This was the yearly happening, Scum of the Slum festival in Trondheim.
Then we were back in business AGAIN!
In September we went to studio and recorded 4 songs to a mini-CD, and in October we did a gig at Blue Garden, Trondheim. In November, we played at UFFA's 20th anniversary.
Our mini CD BOHEM was released in February 2002 and that year we had some gigs in Knaus and Oslo ( Cordial).
Now it's a new year with new possibilities, and we are
back on the track. Stay tuned!
