A sea captain visited us to tell us about Christopher Columbus.
We learned about sailors and all kinds of boats and ships. Since we live so close to the ocean, we had lots to talk about. Boating and fishing are things many of us are familiar with. Did you know that we have little toy tugboats in the sandbox? Our art project that week was a ship in a bottle. |

As the weather turned cooler, and the leaves began to change colors, we started to get very excited about Halloween. We made tissue ghosts and painted paperbag pumpkins. We learned some new songs and fingerplays, and decided to invite our parents to school to hear us sing. Everyone enjoyed it!
Our favorite books about Halloween are Clifford's First Halloween by Norman Bridwell, and Witches Four by Marc Brown. The witches lost their magic hats. Ask me who found them. The withches ate bat wing sandwishes, washed with frog's eyeball soap, and brushed their teeth with spider toothpaste. Yuch!

Cutting practice is something new for us this year. We are cutting straight lines. It looks so easy to do, but some of us are struggling. Perhaps we can practice at home with safety scissors, of course. |
