Our second vacation
- Apr 2001
- Our second vacation was quite an intresting one as we visited various places.
- But unfortunetly this was our last vacation with our good friends Ananth & Riaz
- as they were shortly moving from Denver. Our first stay was at Lake Powell, Arizona.
- The spectacular beauty of the second man made lake in the US fasinated us. The lake is
- 186 miles long with 96 major canyons to explore. As we cruised on a boat the canyons were a
- feast to our eyes. Well what could be more relaxing than cruising in comfort on the most scenic
- lake on earth?. Photography is abound here. A few miles off Lake Powell was our next spot - the
- amazing Grand Canyon!!!. An unbelievable stretch of canyons took my breath away. We stopped
- at various view points to take glimpses of them. Then came our unplanned trip to the Vegas.
- As we drove to reach Las Vegas, we stopped at the Hover Dam. By dusk we reached the place,
- the paradise on earth!!!. The massive casinos & the lighting were glorious to see. As we
- strolled along the boulevard it was like being in a paradise!!!. Man time just rolls by
- in this place. It was time to be back home...after a wonderful vacation to cherish!!!.
Another guest
Jun 2001
Another guest from the family!!!. I was pretty excited about one of my favorite Aunt visiting us.
The day finally arrived & i could see my aunt, uncle & my cousins Ravy & Gopi from Orlando, Florida.
It was great spending time with them & taking them to see the Royal Gorge Bridge & the Rocky Mountain
National Park. The mountain drive was the best part & we enjoyed every natural beauty of Colorado.
Wow...how sweet of them for all the lovely gifts they brough us!!!.
On our Anniversary
- Sep 2001
-
- I st of september, 2001-our first Anniversary, its already a year since we got married &
- time to celebrate. We decided to spend that weekend at Pittsburg & Niagara. We flew to New Jersey
- & from there we set out to Pittsburg & were amazed to see the Balaji temple atop the mountain. The
- prasad was unforgettable. The drive to Niagara was beautiful & we reached there just in time to see the
- breathtaking view of the Falls, illuminated in vivid multicolor. Niagara Falls is a beautiful natural wonder,
- wonder which everyone can enjoy. In the morning we again set out to the Falls, it is believed that Niagara Falls
- attracts some 12 Million tourists to her majestic awesome beauty each year, but that day was a record of crowd
- there. We experienced the panoramic view of the Niagara Falls at its best from many different angles. Now
- one of the most famous tourist attractions in Niagara Falls, the Maid of the Mist makes its maiden voyage
- as a ferry, this exciting adventure takes you to the base of the American and the Horseshoe Falls.
- That was the best part of the trip, so awesome & unbelievable to be so close to the huge falls.
- we sure did enjoy ourself immensly to see one of natures finest creations "Niagara Falls".

Veena(our friend) was there with us all the time to pep it up!. The big day was when
we brought home our cute little christmas tree. I tried my painting stunts on glass for a
few ornaments, not to mention the huge collection that i had been doing the whole year through
It was a lot of fun opening the surprise gifts from Santa ???!!! & getting all that we had wanted!!!
The next best part was this party at the Christenson's(murali's boss)...the great food, the santa surprise,
the kids at the pinanta..& lots of other good things. This christmas has been a very memorable one!!!
At Taos, New Mexico
Dec 2001
Our trip to Taos in New Mexico was wonderful thing that happened. The unplanned trip to Taos
came up when we realised there was an ashram devoted by Neem Karoli Baba to Hanuman. Hanuman,
an ardent devotee of Lord Rama, is worshipped by millions of people in India & abroad. He has the body
of a human and head of a monkey which symbolizes his extraordinary strength, agility and wit. The mountain
drive was fantastic amidst the snow clapped mountains. When we reached Taos, we realised what a beautiful
town it was. We were taken aback by the huge deity of shri Hanumanji, which was brought from Jaipur in 1978
weighing 1600 pounds. The serenity of the ashram captivated us. For those of you intrested in this ashram check
out the site at www.nkbashram.org/temple.html. Apart from this Taos is a cute little town rich in native american
arts & crafts. The numerous Art Galleries reflect the people's flair for painting & other forms of art. Altogether
it was a trip to cherish.
Our memorable Memorial Day weekend!!!
May 2002
Our first trip of this year started with the drive to South Dakota
first & then to Wyoming. We along with Satish & Veena (our friends)
embarked on this trip. South Dakota's sweeping grasslands & thick pine
forest welcomed us with a feast to our eyes. The Bed & Breakfast place we
stayed was so cherishing. We spent the day at Badlands national Park, a 160
mile of jagged rock walls, grassy wind swept buttes which is almost a moonlike
landscape. The strange beauty was breathtaking with a sprinkle of vivid colors all
around. The most important attraction of this state is the Mt. Rushmore Memorial. The
60 ft granite faces of the four US Presidents standing atop of the mountain is awesome
& impressive. The Crazy Horse Memorial was one place that stirred our emotions. It is the
world's largest mountain scuplture in progress. The story of how, when & why this memorail
is being created is told in the visitor center theater. There ended our South Dakota trip with
the most relished moment being meeting my long lost friend Nayana.
We continued our trip to Wyoming's pride - The yellowstone National
Park. The park is a wonderland of bizarre hydrothermal activities, hot
springs, geysers & mud valcanos. The monotonous tall peaks with thick dense
pine forests are so much beauty. We marveled not only at the yellowstones's
topography & the geothermal activities but the good sample of of the wildlife
during the visit to the park. Bisons & deers were visible from the roads. There
was some coyotes running along with the vehicles. well not to mention how surprised
we were to see a big bear strolling along. The hot spring terraces, the turbulent &
explosive mud pots & the hottest geyser basins are still captivating in our thoughts.
The famous feature of the Park is the Old Faithful-a geyser which has been erupting faithfully
every hour for several years. Finally iam glad for having visited the no 1 National Park of the US.
Fun & Frolic at Florida
Sep 2002
It was our second anniversary,it was going to be fun & frolic at Florida. Our ten
day vaction started at Orlando, the mecca for theme park fanatics. The breathtaking
massive Walt Disney World Resort astronished us. It let us experience the wonders of the
future & explore the
cultures of the world. The Universal Studios ignited our sences & set our
spirits soaring high. The thrilling & adventurous high-tech rides, the friendly adorable disney's
characters dancing away to glory are the sure signs of a trip to Orlando. There's sure nothing else
like
Orlando!!!. Our central florida trip ended with a visit to the World renouned NASA Space center.
The relaxing Daytona Beach & the beautiful strech of sea shores were inviting to our eyes. As we headed
down, we reached Miami's sizzling & stunning beaches. It seemed to be the nature-lover's paradise drawing
travelers all year long with its warm weather and miles of unspoiled beaches. Thanks to its powdery sands,
warm waters and fiery sunsets. Being known for its waterside fun we ventured into an unforgettable
adventurous wave runner ride!!!. The best part of the vacation was our drive to the Florida Keys. At
the Keys activities are bountiful. The Colorful underwater trails and coral reefs, the world's third
largest coral reef at the Key Largo. Find paradise at the end of the road at this famous island
getaway-Key West. We reached Key West's, the Mallory Square just in time for the sunset & the
most'happening' sunset celebration there. The Key's boast of excellent dockside restaurants
serving the most exotic sea food. We drove back to Orlando to fly back to our own sweet home!!!.
Sure this vacation was Fun, Frolic & Fantastic..so is Florida!!!
