Comments:  Prince Char-ming, Prince Char-ming, Rid-i-cule is nothing to be scared of!
No, I didn't do it on purpose, and he didn't actually look like that guy from Adam and the Ants for ages, most of the sketch in fact.  It happened when I put the fancy double-over bit on the jacket.  Then all of a sudden his dancing and perhaps strumming on a guitar.
Obviously, the Mega form of Beatmon had to be the perfect rhythm junkie, but not in a 'whistle blowers, blow you whistles!' type of way.  He had to be cool, as he Digivolved from Groovmon, but he had to have more power with it.  He had to look like he could literally blow your socks off by simply stomping his feet (you can imagine it with this guy, can't you?).  And this is what I came up with.  Originally this Digimon was going to be very different, he was going to be much darker, but it changed as I went through the picture.  Just who is drawing who here, anyway?
I have no idea what those weird bits are on his collar, none.  But they look good, which is the main thing.  The armour (if you can call that pathetic amount of metal armour) came out of no where. I thought he needed something on his shoulders, so I gave him basic shoulder pads, which evolved those weird wing things.  Then I thought that he needed something on his hips to balance him out, so replicated the shoulder pads and turned them into hips pads.  I've got no idea why they're there or how they attach, but they do add to the overall effect.
Like the matching gloves and boots?  I was slightly inspired by Nights, from Nights into Dreams for the Sega Saturn.  Simple, but effective.
I really like the wings, especially the right one (your right, not his), as that's the one that catches the most light.  Though colouring it did involve an awful lot of paper turning.  Basically I put down one layer of light colour and then built it up from the light spots until I decided I had the base colour of the wings.  Then, working out that the light source was coming from the right, I added shadow to the left.
I'm not as happy with this one as with some of my other Mega's.  He doesn't sing as much as they do, nor even as much as Groovmon does, but I do like him, and I do like the overall look and I am happy with the pose.
