| Committment Equals The more Abundant Life |
|||||||||||||||
| Living the more abundant life takes committment because we have a personal adversary whose mission is to confuse, discredit, and defeat us at every turn. The Bible calls him the Devil, Beelzebub, the Serpent, the Dragon, the god of this world, the prince of the power of the air, and he is committed. He is sold out to seeing that we do not live a life of abundance. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The thief (Devil), would like to steal, kill, and destroy. He will do everything he can to hinder the believer who is endeavoring to stand for God and His Word. He moves and breeds on lies, contradictions and manipulation. But Jesus Christ came to make available life more than abundant in every category. He made life to be enjoyable and prosperous in every category. HE DEFEATS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL!!!! 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the begining. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Every sin (wrong doing) is due to the influence of satan. God so loved you that He sent His Son to destroy the works of the devil. Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. God has delivered (rescued) us from the power of darkness, but our adversary still endeavors to distract, discourage and defeat us. This is only possible when we do not keep our minds renewed to what God's Word says we are and have as a son of God. 1 Peter 5:6-8 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: We are instructed to cast our cares on Him knowing that He cares for us. We need no longer to be disturbed by the threatening roar of the adversary. We need no longer to go through life conditioned by people, places or things. Jesus Christ defeated the power and the influence of satan over the believer. We resist the adversaries attacks by putting the Word in our minds. Philippians 3:13-15 Bretheren I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. There are three verbs in these verses, forget, reach, and press. Forget = don't worry or get bummed out about things in the past, Reach = we forget by reaching toward the future, Press = it takes an act of love and committment to forget the past and press on for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. One of the adversaries ploys to keep us from looking at the hope is by keeping us in bondage to our past. The difference between winning and losing is committment. Philippians 1:27-29 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; We are to stand fast in one spirit with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel = united (standing together we have the greatest power to defeat the adversary.) When apprehension, anxiety, fear, or intimidation strikes we face it by committing ourselfs to God's Word. That is what causes us to stand and be victorious. God's Word is full of promises. Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: You have Christ in you. It's that Christ in you that gives you limitless life. We were dead in trespasses and sins without God and without hope. But God put His claim, His brand on us with Christ in us making us eternally His. Colossians 2:9-10 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: We are complete in Him, how can we be lacking in anything? Romans 8:16-17 The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified together. Heirs of God = we are heirs to everything God has made available. Joint-heirs with Christ. Joint-heirs = one who shares fully. We share fully in everything Christ inherited. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That he man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. We are throughly furnished unto all good works when we follow sound doctrine, reproof and correction of God's Word, which equals instruction in righteousness. 2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is fo God; Your sufficiency is of God. We are to trust our Father as our sufficiency. The more we grow in God's Word the more we grow in our trust and confidence towards God. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. More than equals super. We are super conquerors in all things (i.e.; mental pressure, distress, sickness, fear, worry.) 2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. God always causes us to triumph when we are in Christ (fellowship). God's presence and power are with us and in us in every situation. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. God's power enables us to overcome any negative. Man is no match for the adversary and his spirits. But with God, we can stand against the wiles of the devil, we can resist, stand fast and be victorious. GOD HAS GIVEN US THE ENABLEMENTS TO LIVE THE MORE ABUNDANT LIFE. God bless and keep you. |
